PARENT'S PORTAL

Parent's Responsibilties

Hooligan’s Preschool and Childcare/Hooligan’s Learning Academy assumes full responsibility for your child once they are dropped off and signed in until they are signed out. So please make sure you sign your child in and out EVERYDAY. Please call if your child will be arriving late, (more than 15 minutes past your scheduled time) or will be absent that day. We cannot and will not release your child to anyone NOT listed on the emergency contact list. You will need to let us know if any changes need to be made, in writing, if someone new will be picking your child up. They will also need to bring a picture ID with them. If you or any other person appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of pick up, you will be asked to have someone come and get you and your child. We will NOT release any child with someone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Late pickups will result in a late fee. If you show up after your scheduled pick up time, with no prior communication, you will be charged a $1 per minute per child late fee. This late fee is due within 3 business days after your late fee notice is given.
Our hours of operation vary by location. All hours are attached. Overnight and Saturday care
are offered on an as needed basis. Please respect our valued family time and if you are going to be late
or not going to come in, please let us know as soon as possible.
The only supplies that we require are bottles, formula/breast milk, baby food, diapers, and
pacifiers for infants, except for; monthly wipes and Kleenex. We will supply everything else for your
child. Pre-k children will receive a supplies list at the start of school.
We will need your child’s application the day you child starts. Within the two weeks following your
child’s start date, we will need their immunization records, physical and birth certificate. Please make
sure that when filling out the emergency contact sheet, you list at least THREE people who we can
contact in case of an emergency and we cannot get ahold of you.
We will be taking children, 2 and older and potty trained, on field trips. At times, all children will participate. We are going to try to take a field trip each month. We will send home a permission slip and information packet 1 week before the field trip, if it requires us to go more than 30 miles out of Anderson, otherwise the daily activities consent covers it. When you enroll your child, you will need to either accept or decline the transportation policy page. If you accept by signing, then you give Hooligan’s permission to transport your child to/from school, field trips, and/or other school related activities or any field trips inside Anderson city limits. If you do not wish for your child to participate in field trips, you will be responsible for finding alternate care for your child that day and you will still owe fees due. We MUST have children at the school by 9am on field trip days, unless otherwise stated. If you bring your child and we have already left, you will still be responsible for full payment.
We believe that discipline should be used to teach a child. We do not believe in corporal
punishment. We will NEVER hit, whip, smack, or swat your child. Any staff member that displays this
behavior will be immediately terminated. We reinforce positive guidance, such as;
Redirection- We will offer alternatives to children engaged in undesirable behavior by
presenting a different activity or toy.
Verbal Intervention- We get down on a child’s level and explain tot eh child the
inappropriate behavior and show him/her the appropriate way to handle the situation with
their words.
Cool Off Corner- If the child is upset, they may choose to go to the cool off corner and
get a quiet activity or a book/puzzle until they have calmed down and are ready to talk.
Take a break- The child may be separated from the group to allow him/her to relax and
calm down, and to help them not to be influenced by peers. The child will have access to
limited activities and be closely monitored. The child may return to the group as soon as
the negative behavior stops or is significantly reduced.
Giving positive verbal rewards and tangible rewards encourages positive and acceptable behavior.
This reinforces a child’s good feeling about his/her behavior and serves as an example to other children
to act in such a way to receive praise. Asking a child to stop and think about their behavior enables the
child to work at self-control.
Again, punishment that is humiliating, or frightening to a child such as hitting, spanking,
shaking, verbal or sexual withholding or forcing food or punishments for lapses in toilet
training and other forms of physical punishment will not be tolerated!!
Your child’s teacher will give you a daily schedule upon entering the classroom.
Daily Activities; Our days will consist of one or more of the following; Use and development of
language skills, use of gross motor and fine motor, use of a variety of materials that encourage imaginary
and creative play, daily indoor and outdoor play, depending on the weather, and self-expression.

Our Policies

We have an open-door policy however, we ask that you please give your child 2 week adjustment period to get acclimated with their new environment and friends. After this time, you or your family may stop in at any time to observe your child. Unless there is a court order in place, then access would
be restricted. We welcome parents/families to come in and volunteer at any time, however, you must have a background check, physical, tb test and drug screen on site if you choose to stay any more than 3
hours per month.
We do sing songs about Jesus. We do pray before every meal. We do read bible stories. We do celebrate holidays. If you have any objections to your child participating in any religious activities;
please let us know so that other accommodations can be made for your child during this time.
Promoting good health and safety is our goal. To prevent the spread of childhood diseases and illness, please do not bring your child that is ill to school. Each child is required by state to have, on file, a health statement signed by a doctor and a shot record with immunizations all up to date. If your child comes down with a communicable disease, please notify us immediately so that we can notify other parents and the Madison County Health Department. Children with a contagious illness will not be allowed to attend school until they have been medicated for at least 24 hours. Hooligans will exclude any child who exhibits any of the following:
Fever of 100 degrees or higher (Must be fever free for at least 24 hours before
returning, without medication)
Diarrhea (3 or more stools)
Vomiting (3 or more times during the day)
Draining rash anywhere on the body (Must be gone before returning)
Eye Discharge-Pink Eye
Lice or knits- Can return only after being free from them for 24 hours
Communicable disease- Chicken pox, measles, etc. (Must have doctors note before
returning)
One of our main areas of exclusion occurs when a child has a fever. However, a child having a fever is not the only reason to exclude a child from care. We accept that a fever is a normal and often healthy reaction to infection, but rather it is when the fever is accompanied by other symptoms that we will exclude a child from care. A child with a fever that is lethargic, not eating, complaining of pain, unable to participate, or is uncomfortable is going to be sent home. Additionally, a child that does not have a fever but is exhibiting signs of illness will also be excluded from care. A child that is not able to comfortably participate in classroom activities or has a greater need for care than the staff is able to
provide without compromising the care of the other children will be sent home. Briefly as an example, your child wants to sleep at odd times, is inconsolable, or in the case of an infant, needs to be held continuously. The Center realizes how important your job is and that your ability to take time off is limited. We will work hard with each family to use our best judgment as to when a child has just a cold and when they cross that line to being unable be here.
Hooligan’s Preschool & Childcare/Hooligan’s Learning Academy will make all reasonable modifications to our policies and practices to accommodate children with special needs, unless to do so would be a fundamental alteration of our existing program. Each child will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine eligibility. We reserve the right to offer to the parent a transfer to a different Hooligan’s location that may be better suited to handle a special need. We welcome any speech therapist,
behavioral therapist, occupational therapists, etc. to our childcare facility to assess and/or treat any child needing services. We ask that any child that has an IEP in place, to bring us a copy to put in the child’s file. Inclusive Environment Early childhood educators at Hooligan’s uses developmentally appropriate practices and consider the unique needs of all children when planning. Staff will make every attempt to make any adaptations or modifications necessary to meet the needs of the children. Schedules, routines and activities are flexible and early childhood educators will work with therapists, special educators and
other professionals to integrate individual accommodations, modifications and strategies into classroom routines and activities. Any adaptations will be reviewed with families and other professionals supporting the child.
1. All children with special needs are entitled to attend inclusive early childhood education programs.
2. Early childhood education programs should receive adequate human, financial and equipment resources to
support children with special needs.
3. Children with special needs should be provided sufficient support to enable them to participate fully and
successfully in an inclusive early childhood education program.
4. The extra cost of supports required by a child to participate in an early childhood education program
should not be borne by the family.
5. To ensure all children with special needs benefit from early childhood programs regardless of their families’ financial situation, government should provide subsidies to all parents of children with special needs for the cost of enrolling in a program at a minimum of three-half days per week.
6. Children with special needs should be financially supported to attend early childhood education programs that meet their unique needs and their family’s needs. This means that if a child’s needs are better met in a more enriched program, or a program of longer duration, families will not be forced to absorb the extra costs or accept a program that does not fully meet their child’s needs.
